Had a lovely session on the little River Lugg , in the quiet hills of the Welsh borders ….. fished two beats today ,and, although i got there early bells , trout were prepared to take dry flies from the off . Initially , i fished a Deer Hair Emerger , which proved effective to be honest , casting into likely places and a few rises that were seen from around ten ish …. as the morning progressed i switched to a mayfly pattern , as i could see a couple get savagely taken by the resident brownies !!!! So on with a Mohican mayfly … successful , but it is difficult to contact with the big size ten fly …. great fun here this morning , lots of sport …. and to top it off , an otter seen , nervously making for cover , once he’d got my scent , and the kingfishers busily up and down the river ….. they really are absolute jewels … a fun morning on this shrunken river …. spot on !!!
