A change for me , headed out on an afternoon session , after smashing the front lawns !!!! Mower promptly packed away at one , then bimbled off to the River Edw , a wild streams beat of the WYE AND USK FOUNDATION . Parked up just before two , river looked a picture , running a tad low , but as clear as gin …… time to get tackled up . kit all sorted , i cracked on , and first pool , which is only up from the bridge , bang , a savage take to my size sixteen parachute Iron Blue …. happy days , and a feisty gorgeously spotted Edw brownie of about eight inches was admired then slipped back in …. a super start . To be honest sport was first class , and i only perhaps did a third of the beat ….. fourteen brownies of various sizes made it too the net , ranging from six to twelve inches …. and to top it off i stayed with the same fly the whole afternoon , not often that happens on these wild tributaries !!!!! Sport was fabulous , lovely splashy takes to my dry fly and also a few fluffed strikes , and long range releases too !!!!!! oh well , thats fishing hey …. The ambience here is just sublime ….. kingfishers up and down , mayflies and sedges dancing on the calmer water ; getting the trout eager , and a friendly dipper that wasn’t quite sure what to make of me in his little peaceful world ….. a wonderful four hours sport , back here soon ……..
